David duChemin assignment #3
Posted on 28 February 2010
This assignment involves taking photos of one your favorite subjects and seeking a different point of view, or a different way of telling the story. One of my favorite photos is one I took a while ago. I used Nik Software’s Silver Efex Pro in post processing on this one. I was surprised and thrilled when one of the chief engineers at Nik Software commented on this photo. I’m proud of this one.
This statue is at a local cemetery watching over many graves. You don’t really get that from this image. So I decided to use this one as my base and try to tell the story of this statue more completely using different points of view. Here’s what I came up with. I noticed that in some of the pics the statue looks huge and ominous, while in others it looks really small. All depends on the point of view. This was a really fun and helpful exercise. Give it a try and let me know what you think.

Hi Matt
You’ve achieved quite a variety of images here, all of which tell the story in a slightly different way. I thought that #8 was very touching; but for me I thought that #7 had the most impact and also made me smile when I noticed the name on the plinth!
Thanks George. I’ll take credit for the photo but not for the scripture verse:)
I could sit here for a long time looking at all these different images of this statue. I love the lighting in #8, but I think #5 is my favorite. Something about the dark clouds in the sky. I really like the effect of all of them together, though.
Thanks Ann, glad you like. It’s fun to be back in photo swing again.
